OUR TEAM

Meet The Team

Gale Bellew - Chair

Gale has been a Village of Del Mar resident with her husband Bill since July of 2011. She began playing billiards in December of 2011 and has become very passionate about the sport. Since learning to play Gale spends more than 15 hours a week at the tables practicing, playing in leagues and tournaments, and she teaches beginners basic mechanics and coaches them at the Chula Vista Rec center. Gale also plays in the Senior Games and played on the National Team in the 2014 Ladies Cup Tournament. She has been a member of the VBC and the LBA since shortly after learning to play.

Kathy Gittings -

Kathy's first experience holding a billiard cue stick and learning bridge mechanics occurred before the age of ten.  It wasn't until 2008 when Kathy and her husband Tom purchased a home in the Village of Hadley that Kathy again picked up a cue stick and challenged Tom to a game at Odell Recreation Center. After her retirement from a nursing career in the Chicago land area of Illinois in October 2011, Kathy began lessons with Don "The Preacher" Feeney, joined the VBC, LBA, participated in league play, tournaments and lessons at The Villages Lifelong Learning Collage. She continues nearly every day to play, practice and enjoys tips and instruction from some of the best billiard players.  Kathy also participates in the Villages Nurse's Club, True Crime Book Club, Villages Genealogical Society, Hadley Socialites, practices yoga, plays golf, pickleball, mah jongg, and volunteers for Cornerstone Hospice and the USF Health Community Center.

Joanne Hawks -

Joanne and her husband, Mike, settled in the Village of Chatham after moving here from North Carolina in 2012.  She started taking Beginner lessons within a week of moving to The Villages, and immediately developed a passion for the game.  She has attended classes through the Lifelong Learning College, and always welcomes tips from more experienced players.  She enjoys playing in tournaments and leagues, both Mixed and Singles, and prefers more serious competition than social or drop in play.  She is the current Secretary of the VBC, and a member of LBA.  She played in the Senior Games in 2014 and 2015, and played on Team National in the 2015 Ladies Cup Tournament.  She plays backgammon with The Villages Backgammon club two mornings a week, and is an avid quilter, usually finding at least a few minutes for quilting every day.

Sharon Lomanno -

Sharon and her husband, Roy, reside in the Village of Glenbrook.   Although she loved softball and pickleball, the summer months in 2003 were just too hot for these activities.  She decided to try an indoor activity.  That’s when she discovered billiards! She is a founding member of the Ladies Billiards Association.  She is the current Vice President of The Villages Billiards Club.  After many years of playing in the Senior Games, she now officiates at the Games. She played on Team American in the 2014 Ladies Cup and served as Captain of Team American in the 2015 Ladies Cup.   Over the years, she has played in numerous leagues and tournaments.  In an endeavor to “give back” to the billiards community, she now runs three mixed, team leagues:  The Village Cup 9-Ball League, Eight is Enough Monday Night 8-Ball League, and CR 466 South Thursday Night 8-Ball League.

Wendy Lord - To come

Annemarie Prioriello-

Annemarie moved to the Village of Alhambra in June of 2005. She began playing billiards with the Singles Baby Boomers in 2012, learning along the way from the men there. She discovered she really liked the sport, and continued to pick up tips from those she played with socially. She joined the VBC in December of 2013 and started playing in the monthly tournaments, and some drop in tournaments. She joined a mixed doubles league and APA LEAGUE in 2014. She has played in the past two Senior Games.
